The Plum Island Taxpayers Associaton (PITA) have installed a gas-fueled electric generator at their hall that can run 24 hours a day and can be utilized during storms on the barrier island. The trench carrying the gas is covered over yesterday; the hall is used for civic functions as well as private rental.
