BRYAN EATON/Staff photo. Cashman School students, from left, Nicholas DeRosa, 9, Kyra Pichet, 10, and Avari Henson, 9, plant lettuce and spinach into a tower garden which Swiss chard and other vegetables are already several inches tall. The Amesbury school has an outdoor garden but uses this indoor one to teach students that gardening is possible in different mediums, not just in soil, and reminds them of the different needs of plants, from light, nutrients, water and carbon dioxide.
