Amesbury: There were a few chuckles at a gathering when Amesbury Veteran's Agent Kristen Lucier ran to stop a road crew from starting to dig on Elm Street in Amesbury on Monday afternoon before a detail officer came to assist. A ceremony was being held at the adjacent Costello Transportation Center to dedicate a flagpole to Jordan Shay, an Amesbury soldier who died in Iraq, when just as the speakers started, the noise from the equipment threatened to drown out their words.
