Newburyport: Dyke Hendrickson, a Newburyport resident, recently wrote "Franco-Americans of Maine" (Arcadia Publishing Co. -- in bookstores June 21), which depicts the lives of French canadians in Maine through 200+ photos and text. Thirty years ago he also wrote "Quiet Presence: Stories of Franco-Americans in New England." Through his research, he said the local area has a strong French-Canadian heritage, as well.
